OK... so after months of chatter and speculation on all the forums and weblogs Nikon this week announced two new camera's: the D300 and the new flagshipmodel the D3!
Are they nice - absolutely. They are amazing. I want either one...
And yet, I can't help but wonder if this was the best Nikon could do. Both camera's are 12 Megapix. I have the D200 which is 10. That's not a big difference. Te D3 is Full Frame - meaning there is no 1,5x crop factor anymore. But was that really what we wanted? Both camera's can shoot at 9 frames per second — that's fast. But my D200 can shoot at 6 frames per second, and I seldom use that!
The following are really nice improvements:
- Both camera's now allow you to see a live proview on the screen. Previous Nikon camera's only allowed you to look through the view finder. And the screens are nice and big!!!
- The D3 has a high iso-setting of 25.600! That is amazing. My D200 only goes to 1600 — and the images contains lots of noise. But how often do I find myself in settings where I still want to photograph and I need 25.600?
Anyway... Santa doesn't need to bring anything else then a D300... :-)
